What this site is, and what it is not

Who it is for

Almost everyone who reads this site arrives at roughly the same moment: something has changed with a parent, and the family suddenly has to understand a system nobody explained to them. What does assisted living actually cost. Whether Medicare covers any of it. How to raise it without the conversation going badly.

The guides are written for that person, not for clinicians and not for the industry. No jargon that is not immediately explained, no assumed knowledge, and no pretending the money question is indelicate.

How it makes money

Reading anything here is free and always will be. There is no account, no paywall, and the guides do not ask for your email.

Right now it does not. If you ask for help, a person reads it and replies, and nobody pays us for that. The intention is that care providers eventually pay to be introduced to families who ask, and when that starts this page will say so plainly. We are not a care provider ourselves, we do not employ caregivers, and we do not run facilities.

What we deliberately do not do

• We do not give medical, legal or financial advice. The guides explain how things generally work; your situation needs someone who knows it.
• We do not sell your details on to anyone who did not come up in your match, and we do not hand your information to advertisers.
• We do not chase. If you stop replying, we assume you are thinking it over rather than that you need calling again.
